Open the Tower and Reach the Forbidden Archives
The island beacons open the entrance; the numbered balcony Gargoyles open an interior passage. Once inside, leave the screaming faces and fleshy barriers until after the boss, when you obtain the item needed to remove them.
Prepare Your Torch, Movement and Recovery Items
Collect the Azure Torch from the Gargoyle statue at the Tower approach. You need its flame for both the island beacons and the numbered statues inside, so keep it available throughout the dungeon.
You also need Endu's Wind Dash for the upper Tower route. Bring throwing weapons and healing supplies: Book Bugs, animated Gargoyles and status-inflicting enemies occupy the Tower, and ranged attacks help against threats above or across narrow paths.
Make a manual save whenever you reach a Crystal Monument. Resting restores your condition, but saving is a separate action; protect newly collected equipment and keys before continuing into unfamiliar rooms.
Light the Island Beacons to Unseal the Entrance
- Ignite the first two island Gargoyle beacons with the Azure Torch during early exploration. Each successful activation rings a bell toward opening the Tower.
- Defeat Dagoom in Obmuer Temple to reach the route containing the final island Gargoyle. This beacon becomes accessible after that encounter.
- Light the Gargoyle along the Obmuer Temple exit route with the Azure Torch. If the earlier beacons are already lit, this completes the bell sequence.
- Return to the Tower after all three bells have rung. The entrance opens once all three island beacons are burning.
Light Gargoyles 3 and 7 on the Balcony
- Inspect the stone plaques around the numbered Gargoyle balcony. Check among the rubble for the partly concealed clue if you want to read the complete puzzle.
- Ignite Gargoyle 3 with the Azure Torch as part of the pair needed to open the interior passage.
- Ignite Gargoyle 7 with the Azure Torch to complete the correct pair and open the nearby door back inside.
- Follow the newly opened passage through the rooms beyond it to the next Crystal Monument and the stairwell leading upward.
Avoid lighting statues at random. An incorrect Gargoyle can attack and bring out groups of Book Bugs. After solving the puzzle, follow the opened interior door; the balcony mechanism does not unlock every room in the Tower.
Find the Storm Gem and Rotate the Staircase
- Climb toward Knowledge Keeper Wourha's study and the large staircase nearby. This route leads to the Storm Gem in the upper Tower.
- Collect the Storm Gem to recover Endu's missing component and unlock the Raging Tempest achievement.
- Wind Dash to the opening or ledge beneath the Storm Gem platform. This gives you access to the staircase switch.
- Activate the switch below the platform to rotate the staircase and create a route into another part of the upper Tower.
- Follow the staircase's new alignment to reach the elevator along the newly accessible route.
Collecting the Storm Gem does not open the locked doors around the upper floor. If you are stuck there, look below the pickup platform for the switch route, then follow the repositioned stairs toward the elevator.
Get Budaen's Key and Enter the Forbidden Archives
- Ride the elevator down to the area containing Budaen. He is the character you need to speak with to obtain the Archives key.
- Speak with Budaen to receive the Forbidden Archives Key, which allows you to continue toward the Tower's boss.
- Return to the locked doors near the Storm Gem and use the key to enter the Forbidden Archives.
- Save at the Crystal Monument before continuing through the Archives' enemy encounters toward the Necronomicon.
Spoilers: Defeat the Necronomicon
Prepare your throwing weapons and keep the Azure Torch ready for opportunities to deal fire damage. The Necronomicon attacks from range and applies status effects, so controlled ranged pressure is a practical approach while you wait for melee openings.
- Attack the book with throwing weapons from a distance, giving yourself room to respond to its status-inflicting attacks.
- Close in when the book falls or becomes accessible, using that opening for a brief melee exchange.
- Withdraw before the Necronomicon resumes its ranged attacks so you can return to throwing distance.
- Avoid the goat-like form's attacks until the book form returns, then resume looking for a safe opening.
- Create distance before using an Elixir, especially after a status attack, to give yourself room to recover.
Spoilers: Use the Acid Vial and Continue to Deimpo Mausoleum
- Collect the Acid Vial and Golden Duck Figurine after defeating the Necronomicon. The victory also unlocks Hell Transcribed.
- Throw your basic daggers at the Tower's screaming faces and fleshy barriers. The Acid Vial automatically enhances those daggers, allowing them to dissolve the obstructions.
- Return toward Budaen's area and destroy the nearby fleshy blockage with your acid-enhanced basic throwing daggers to open the onward passage.
- Follow the cleared passage toward Deimpo Mausoleum, the location connected to the sealed entrance near the starting soldiers' camp.
