Unlock the Shop and Return Later
Umbada's shop is reached through a Crystal Monument connection rather than an island storefront. The Stone Duck Figurine opens that connection, so finish the Shrine Guardian encounter before searching for the Shop option. If you have already beaten the Guardian, check that you collected the figurine before retracing the opening area.
- Defeat the Shrine Guardian at the Shrine of Endu. Winning this encounter makes the Stone Duck Figurine available to collect.
- Collect the Stone Duck Figurine after the fight. This pickup provides merchant access, so make sure you have it before moving on.
- Interact with an activated Crystal Monument after obtaining the figurine. The newly available connection takes you to Umbada's Trading Outpost for your initial visit.
- Choose Shop at a Crystal Monument when you want to return later. This gives you repeat access to Umbada for equipment purchases and treasure sales.
Choose Early Purchases That Help Your Current Fights
| Purchase | Cost and Buying Advice |
|---|---|
| Protection Charm | 10 Ancient Coins. A broadly useful defensive choice if you want a straightforward early purchase. |
| Strength Charm | 12 Ancient Coins. Compare its in-game description with the Protection Charm before spending your early budget. |
| Additional throwing-weapon charges | Increase throwing capacity when running out of ranged attacks is limiting your fights. Check the available upgrades again after discovering another throwing weapon. |
| Morning Star | 20 Ancient Coins. Its Impact and Pierce damage complement Endu's Slash attacks, making it worth considering against Slash-resistant enemies. |
| Hand Axe | 20 Ancient Coins. Offers Slash and Impact damage; compare those types with your existing equipment before buying. |
| Dried Herbs and Panacea | Dried Herbs cost 3 Ancient Coins, while Panacea costs 9. Leave room in your equipment budget for supplies. |
Before buying another melee weapon, check what your current equipment already covers. The Club collected in the Crypt supplies Impact damage, while Holy Sword Endu supplies Slash damage. Use the Bestiary to assess enemy weaknesses, then choose a purchase that adds something useful to those options.
Sell Treasure and Keep Delivery Items in Mind
Spoilers: Duck Figurines and Expanded Shop Stock
Duck figurines continue to matter after the shop opens because additional deliveries expand Umbada's merchandise. Plan a return visit when you acquire another figurine so you can review the new options. Delivering the complete collection also works toward A Fine Collection.
| Figurine | Where It Comes From and What It Opens |
|---|---|
| Stone Duck Figurine | Collect it after defeating the Shrine Guardian. It unlocks the Crystal Monument connection to Umbada's Trading Outpost. |
| Silver Duck Figurine | Defeat Dagoom in Obmuer Temple, then bring the figurine to Umbada. The expanded stock includes the Spiked Buckler. |
| Golden Duck Figurine | Collect it after defeating the Necronomicon in the Tower of Knowledge. Deliver it to expand the inventory further, including access to Trident Key: Amethyst. |
Track Shop Spending and Collection Goals
Keep Umbada's deliveries and spending goals in mind throughout your adventure. Equipment purchases also belong in your broader weapon and accessory tracking. Record what you have delivered and collected so each return visit has a clear purpose.
| Achievement | Requirement |
|---|---|
| A Fine Collection | Deliver every duck figurine to Umbada. Picking them up is only part of the objective. |
| Let's Make a Deal | Spend a cumulative 1,000 Ancient Coins at Umbada's Trading Outpost. Carrying that amount does not meet the requirement. |
| Extensive Armaments | Collect every main weapon. Include merchant purchases when recording your equipment collection. |
| Eclectic Accoutrements | Collect every accessory. Check shop accessories alongside those you find while exploring. |
| Glimmering Treasures | Collect every treasure. Keep a record of your finds while deciding which Treasure items to sell. |
Save After Your Shopping Trip
Make a manual save at a Crystal Monument after collecting an important figurine or buying equipment. Resting and saving are separate actions, and dying sends you back to your latest save with later progress lost. Save before heading into the next dangerous area to preserve your recent pickups and equipment.
